There's no fool like an old fool. Luckily I've been to busy to make a
complete ass of myself. Maybe just a half-ass old fool.
Driving down Market Street to work at 5:30 a.m. twice beggars came up
to my car. Getting an early start in the day, I guess. One was quite
rude (must've been a hard night) and the first words out of my mouth
today were ones I won't repeat here. I did see a few women (in pairs)
with their shorts and caps. Must've been a marathon today. Always
something going on in this town.
Sunday's I get to drive to work since street parking is free. It's
not easy, but it's free. Oracle has Howard Street blocked off so I
drove around (one way streets, limited legal turns) and parked in
front of MOMA. Since I only have an MA in English I wasn't completely
sure it was legal to park there all day long. Maybe if I had a PhD I
wouldn't have worried. But I did. Figured if I got towed at least
I'd have something to blog about... Car was fine and it was sure
nice to sit down and listen to some classical music on the way home
instead of standing in the Muni station waiting for train.
Had a talk with the boss about how our staff needs recognition; that
they aren't in it for the money and that people don't quit
businesses, they quit people. We are so lucky to have some great
people. And most of them seem to be pretty tolerant of this old fool.
