Tough it Out

One of the hardest days I've ever had at Borders; Putting together
next weeks schedule. Kind of a Sudoku puzzle with moving parts. Had
to make about 50 phone calls to get/give info to new staff, and
finalize Monday and Tuesday's crazy delivery schedule. Since we have
a crappy time slot (but lucky to get that!), Borders is combining
several deliveries to come in at 11 pm on Tuesday, our first day for
staff. That's just a few days away. Something like 48+ pallets of books.

Add to that our missed delivery of our pallet jack today and may not
have elevator service on Sunday (due to Union rules) for our IT
delivery.

Meanwhile... chaos as other managers and sups scramble.

My good deed of the day; sending some staff to the flower mart (they
had never even heard of it!) to get goodbye gifts for all the desks
we had taken over at MIssion Bay. Nice to do for the Mission Bay
staff, but even nice break to send people out to buy flowers instead
of processing 80+ new hire packets.

I ended up staying late, long after everyone else had left. Bleary
eyed and beat when I left I stumbled into the GIants circus. The
crowds and cacophony before the game (across the street!). Nice to
see so many happy people (and to bad it's so damn cold tonight!).
