Sleepy Boy

Yesterday was our "Induction." That's our event to bring in all the
new employees; introduce them to Borders (speeches by the RM, DM,
RHRM, REM, DEM, SBCRM, LPRM, and GM). Best line (by GM Ken), "I am a
bookseller."

Then a ton of paperwork. Since most people were hired from a job fair
we had incomplete applications as well as all the paperwork we
require. Lunch. Some music videos by our hosts, Universal Music, and
a couple coffee tastings. The OS, Jodi, and TS, Krystal, did a great
job coordinating the mound of paperwork and double and triple
checking that everything was filled out. We checked I-9's and
everyone did their WOTC phone call. Whew! What a day!

So I came home, had a snack, and took a nap. Woke up at 2:30 a.m.,
brushed my teeth and went back to bed. But the zenith of the HR phase
of our new store is now behind us. Today Jodi and Krystal got ALL the
new hires (about 80) entered into PeopleSoft. Anyone who has used
PeopleSoft at Borders will understand with awe what an undertaking
that was!

So Friday is our last day in Mission Bay. We're off to the new store
starting with a late Sunday delivery. Adieu and good night!
