Another long (13+ hours) day at the new store. A few less fires to
put out today. A lot less stairs (but still many many) to climb.
Computers, printers, fax machine, Kronos are working. Fridges
installed, microwave in the break room... 48 pallets last night and
books going up on the shelves.
The temporary wall came down and the signs are up and the Newsstand
is starting to look good. We may be able to open on schedule (9/22/6)!
One person quit in tears today (BINC stickers were to hard to understand),
but everyone else pulled together and
had fun and worked hard.
I don't quite remember what all I did today. No heavy lifting, thank
goodness. Shoving a desk and some cash registers up a steep narrow
staircase yesterday was more than enough for this old man. I was on
the phone looking for employees that never showed up or bothered to
call (only about 6 out of 80), calling security to see why they had
changed the rules two more times since last night, and explaining to
payroll why I couldn't just pay-out the employee who quit after an
hour (we don't have any store money yet!), and a few other assorted
contact peoples.
It's all a blur.

Wow, I love this. Thanks for
keeping us all uptodate! Forever
after you'll think of this as
"your" store, Bruce.
