Talking to Strangers

New boss suggested that the best attribute to discover from potential
employees is not what do they like to read, not even their work
ethic, but do they like to talk to strangers. He's right (attendence
asside!). Everyday we talk to dozens of new people. Is it fun? You bet.

I was thinking later that maybe I prefer talking to strangers to
talking to just about anyone I already know, including family,
friends, coworkers, and lovers... Is that weird? Sad? Or wonderful?

That person with the gruff exterior; wearing their street face.
Ignore that and pretend you're happy to see them and watch them light
up. Engage them and you've made a small deposit into the social bank
of the universe.

Oh, this is quite lovely...
I like this philosophy even
though I don't want to
talk to ANYONE right about
now. "Social bank of the
universe", good one!
